Centurion Forced to Cancel South Beach Show
The show venue was damaged by Irma and will not reopen in time, and another October show, JIS Miami, has had to move because of the storm.

New York--Organizers of the Centurion South Beach show announced this week that the 2017 edition of the show has been canceled in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
The show was scheduled to take place from Oct. 7 to 10 at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach, but the hotel was damaged during Irma, which made landfall in south Florida on Sept. 10, and will remain closed during the show dates and beyond.
The “25 in 5” e-commerce conference scheduled to take place in conjunction with the show also has been canceled but will be made available to the entire industry as a webinar series; details on its release will be available soon.
“We regret to inform our attendees and exhibitors of this difficult decision,” said Centurion President Howard Hauben in an article included in Thursday’s Centurion newsletter. “But given the number of attendee areas impacted by Hurricane Irma and the loss of our venue, cancellation for this year was the only sensible way forward.”
In addition, National Jeweler learned Friday that the JIS Miami Show, scheduled to take place Oct. 8-11 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, has been forced to relocate because of the storm.
According to the show’s website, JIS is moving 30 miles north, to the Ft. Lauderdale Convention Center. The show dates remain the same.
Centurion South Beach will return in 2018, and those show dates will be announced shortly.
The next edition of Centurion will be the annual Scottsdale, Arizona show, which is scheduled to take place Jan. 28 to 30, 2018 at The Phoenician.
