Christie's Names New Global Head of Watches

The auction house has promoted Remi Guillemin, formerly its head of watches for the Americas and EMEA, to the role.

Geneva—Christie's has appointed Remi Guillemin as global head of watches, based in Geneva.

Guillemin has more than a decade of international experience at Christie's.

In his new role, he will lead the company's global watch business across both auction and private sales.

He will oversee an international team of specialists and work closely with collectors and clients globally to bring exceptional and historically significant timepieces to market, the auction house said.

"The new global structure reinforces Christie's commitment to delivering an increasingly connected and client focused experience for the international watch collecting community. There is no better choice for this important role than Remi Guillemin, whose expertise, focus on smart curation, and client relationships has already grown our market and led to landmark success," said Kimberly Miller, Christie's global managing director of luxury.

"This appointment will enable Christie's to offer collectors and consignors an even more seamless global experience, with greater access to expertise, opportunities, and markets across the world."

Prior to his promotion, Guillemin served as Christie’s head of watches for the Americas and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, where he led his teams through a period of significant growth and a succession of landmark sales, the auction house said.

In 2022, Guillemin spearheaded the white-glove sale, “Legendary and Unique Watches,” which comprised more than 100 watches from a single collector, and two years later, he led the sale of a private collection of custom-made watches belonging to Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher.

Earlier in his career at Christie’s, Guillemin conducted the first stand-alone auction dedicated to any independent watchmaker, F.P. Journe.

Christie’s U.S. Watches grew under Guillemin's leadership, it said.

Notably, the auction house set a record for the most expensive timepiece ever sold by Christie's New York, a Richard Mille RM 56-02 at more than $3 million.

The continued development of the region remains a key strategic priority for Christie’s watches business, as its international team seeks to further expand the auction house’s presence.

Christie’s also announced other appointments within its global watch team.

After seven years as head of department in Asia, Alexandre Bigler has been promoted to SVP, senior international specialist, head of collections, Watches.

In his new role, he will support broader business efforts across auction and private sales.

Bigler will continue to leverage his expertise and develop relationships with Christie’s top international collectors as well as provide guidance on our commercial strategy to increase competitiveness, the auction house said.

Following nine years with Christie's, Harmmond Wong has been promoted to VP, head of department in Asia Pacific.

Wong will assume management of the Asia Pacific Watch Department and work closely with both Guillemin and Bigler.

Cissy Ngan has also been promoted, taking on the role of VP, senior specialist, Asia Pacific following 12 years at Christie's.

In the first half of 2026, Christie’s worldwide watch sales increased by 39 percent year-over-year, a figure it said underscores the strength of the market and the continued demand for rare and exceptional timepieces.

In May, its Rare Watches sale in Geneva grossed $42.2 million, the highest result for any various-owner watch auction in Christie's history.

Records set at the auction included the highest price achieved at auction for a vintage Audemars Piguet, at more than $2.6 million, and the highest price paid for any Cartier wristwatch, exceeding $2 million.

In Asia, the May 2026 Important Watches auction in Hong Kong realized $35.7 million, an increase of 40 percent year-over-year, and established six new world auction records.
