Neiman Marcus’ Downtown Dallas Store to Close in September
Saks Global confirmed the closure this week, spelling the end for a store that’s been part of downtown Dallas for more than 100 years.

According to a statement shared with news outlets, the store will close on Sept. 30, and the decision is final.
Saks Global said: “As we continue to take steps to secure a strong future for Neiman Marcus, our optimized store footprint is aimed at aligning our go-forward presence with customer demand and preferences.
“After a thorough evaluation, we have made the difficult decision to close the Neiman Marcus Downtown Dallas store on September 30, 2026, and concentrate our resources where our customers prefer to shop,” meaning the Neiman Marcus store in NorthPark Center, a high-end shopping mall in North Dallas.
The confirmation brings an end to an extended back-and-forth about the future of the iconic store, which city officials and community leaders fought to save.
Reports about the potential closure of the downtown Neiman Marcus store began to circulate in February 2025, when Saks Global said it planned to close the location at the end of March.
The company reiterated the message the following month to combat “misleading” claims that the store would remain open.
In late March, just days before it was slated to shut down for good, Saks Global announced that the store would remain open through the holiday season, and potentially longer, while it “explores a reimagination” of the space with the City of Dallas.
Those talks have ended, though Saks Global said it plans to “infuse elements celebrating the downtown store’s rich history” into the NorthPark Neiman Marcus.
In a statement shared with National Jeweler, Dallas City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert said the city is disappointed that the historic store, a “cornerstone” of the central business district for more than a century, is closing.
“While this decision is not the outcome we worked toward, the city will continue to partner with Saks Global as they invest in the transformation of the NorthPark store,” she said.
Saks Global owns Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman in addition to Neiman Marcus.
The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January and is closing underperforming locations across its portfolio to get out from under debt, with an eye on emerging from bankruptcy this summer.
To date, the company has confirmed it will close 18 Saks Fifth Avenue stores and three Neiman Marcus locations—the stores at Ala Moana in Honolulu, Hawaii; Topanga in Canyon Park, California; and Copley Place in Boston—as well as the vast majority of Saks Off 5th stores and all Last Call stores.
