This Fall, Citizen’s Forecast Calls for Rain
Citizen’s new “Rainell” women’s watch has a raindrop-shaped case and is available with a silver-, gold-, purple-, or green-colored dial.

The new “Rainell” watch is part of “Citizen L,” the brand’s line of women’s timepieces. Its name is a portmanteau of “rain” and “bella,” meaning beautiful.
When creating “Rainell,” Citizen said its design team took inspiration from the brand’s archives in Japan while looking to current trends—consumers’ desire for something “different,” sleek minimalism, and, in the watch world, smaller, uniquely shaped cases.
“In an era where individuality reigns, today’s woman is no longer satisfied with the ordinary. She craves unexpected shapes, striking colors, and distinct silhouettes that speak to who she is—confident, complex, and unapologetically original,” Citizen said.
The “Rainell” has a 26 mm stainless steel case, spherical sapphire crystal, and is water resistant to 50 meters.
It is powered by Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology, which means the watch gets its power from light and does not need a battery.
The watch is available in four versions—the stainless steel “Rainell” with either the silver or purple dial retails for $425, while the gold-tone stainless steel model with a gold dial and the rose gold-tone stainless steel version with a dark green dial are $495.
The dials of all four watches have a hairline finish, a decorative treatment that involves applying fine, parallel scratches to the surface of the watch dial, intended to call to mind rainfall.
Introduced to press and retailers at the Couture show in Las Vegas earlier this year, the “Rainell” rolled out at the end of September.
It is being sold on the Citizen watch website and at authorized retailers.
