Couture designer to create next DEF bracelet
The show is partnering with the Diamond Empowerment Fund for the Diamonds Do Good design competition, which challenges Couture exhibitors to come up with a fresh look for the charity’s signature bracelet.
New York--The Couture show is partnering with the Diamond Empowerment Fund to come up with a design for the newest version of the charity’s signature bracelet.
The Diamonds Do Good design competition, sponsored by Couture and DEF, is open now to all designers who exhibit at Couture.
The design must pay homage to the original green malachite bead DEF bracelet, incorporating green and using at least one diamond. The diamond, or diamonds, must be Kimberley Process compliant.
The winner of the competition will be recognized as the designer of the DEF bracelet--which is sold at retail stores nationwide and benefits the education initiatives DEF supports in diamond-producing countries--and will receive a trip to Hong Kong to meet with Chow Tai Fook Managing Director Kent Wong and tour the retailer’s stores in Hong Kong and mainland China.
The entry form and complete rules are available on the Couture show website.
The deadline to enter is July 15.
All entries will be on display at the upcoming JA New York Summer Show, scheduled for July 26 to 28 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
A panel that includes retailers and editors will select the top three finalists, and the winning design will be unveiled a press event slated to be held in New York City in early October.
Chow Tai Fook will manufacture the new DEF bracelet, and it will be available in time for the 2015 holiday season.
