Antwerp--Diamond grading lab HRD Antwerp is accepting entries for the 16th edition of its international jewelry design competition, which this year carries the theme of “A la Carte, A Culinary Journey.”
Applicants are encouraged to produce “sparkling and copious jewelry, seasoned with diamonds” that is inspired by cuisine.
The competition is open to designers from all over the world. Entries must be original designs and contain at least 1 carat of diamonds. Interpretation of the theme is “critical,” the lab said.
An international jury searching for the best and most unique piece will judge the entries.
The winning collection will be exhibited and promoted in 2015 and 2016 in Belgium and abroad, with an opening exhibition scheduled to take place from May 1 to Oct. 31 in the Belgian pavilion at the World Expo in Milan, Italy.
The designer behind the winning collection will receive a cash prize of $10,000, and four finalists will receive $2,500 each.
Beginning in September, applicants can upload their entries here.
The submission deadline is Oct. 31. Contestants are permitted to submit as many designs as they want, and actual pieces of diamond jewelry must be submitted prior to March 15.
Additional information can be found on the HRD Awards website or by contacting Jennie Baeten at jennie.baeten@hrdantwerp.be or Debbie Verbruggen at debbie.verbruggen@hrdantwerp.be.
