Marina B’s luxury pieces go up on the block
Nine pieces of jewelry designed by Marina B, the granddaughter of the founder of Bulgari, will be offered at Bonhams this fall, and is expected to fetch more than $1 million.

The “Marina B Legendary Luxury Jewellery Collection” is the largest and most valuable collection by the designer ever offered at auction, Bonhams said, and will be part of its Nov. 26 sale of Fine Jewelry & Jadeite in Hong Kong.
Highlighting the collection is the “Amelia” suite, consisting of a diamond and sapphire necklace boasting 12 cushion-shaped natural Ceylon sapphires weighing a total of 104.81 carats, and a pair of diamond and sapphire earrings. The suite is expected to sell for up to $645,000.
The ruby and diamond “Georgina” ring, boasting a 10.54-carat Burmese ruby with marquise and Asscher-cut diamonds, has a pre-sale high estimate of $580,000.
The Legendary Luxury Jewellery Collection will tour through Europe, America and Asia before arriving in Hong Kong in November.
“(Marina B’s) designs are iconic because of their architectural boldness combined with the use of vivid colored gemstones contrasting with white diamonds,” said Graeme Thompson, head of jewelry at Bonhams Asia. “Undoubtedly Marina B was one of the pioneers of 1980s creativity and this is a rare opportunity to own one of the jewels she designed.”
