Wendy Yue Created These Special Jewels for Year of the Pig
The prominent Chinese jewelry designer is offering the one-of-a-kind treasures in celebration of the Chinese New Year.

New York—Wendy Yue is one of the most prominent voices in Chinese jewelry design and typically has something extra special up her sleeve to mark a new year in the lunar calendar.
The Year of the Pig is no exception.
Yue has created two one-of-a-kind jewels to commemorate the last animal in the Chinese zodiac.
The first joins Yue’s snuff bottle range, which, despite the name, is intended to store perfume. The reversible necklace, pictured at top, features a pig on one side and butterflies on the reverse.

Hung from a jade bead necklace, the pendant is crafted in 18-karat white gold with onyx, coral, pink sapphires, jade, white and champagne diamonds, and a single blue sapphire. It’s priced at $14,500.
Yue also created a ring, seen below, depicting a pig searching for a truffle, to symbolize the animal’s perseverance.
This glamorous representation features a pig crafted in white jet scouting for a ruby truffle on a rough emerald base. The style is rendered in 18-karat yellow gold and also features agate, tsavorite, and champagne diamonds. It retails for $11,250.
A representative for Yue said that in Chinese culture, the pig is believed to have a sensitive, gentle and compassionate nature, so the Year of the Pig will deliver serenity and calmness.
