Coronet Sets Nearly 10,000 Diamonds on a Handbag
Unveiled at Baselworld, the accessory took 15 craftsmen about 100 days to complete.

Hong Kong—Coronet has set another record.
The Hong Kong-based diamond jewelry brand achieved the Guinness World Record for the most diamonds set on a handbag with a piece it unveiled at Baselworld this year.
The Coca-Cola bottle-shaped accessory features 9,888 natural diamonds—8,543 black diamonds and 1,345 colorless diamonds—weighing a total of 120 carats.
The brand said it took 15 highly skilled craftsmen close to 100 days to complete.
The bag, with its whimsical design and many, many gems, resembles the work of well-known handbag designer Judith Leiber, who died this week at the age of 97. Her bags were often seen as objet d’art just as Coronet sees its own recent creation.
“Although we have successfully set two Guinness World Records titles before, we continue to challenge ourselves and create the world’s top-level diamond art treasures,” said President Aaron Shum Wan-lung to Guinness World Records. “My team and I are very proud and excited that we have set a new Guinness World Records title.”
Coronet is owned by Aaron Shum Jewelry Ltd.
In 2015, it achieved the world record for creating the most valuable guitar. The Gibson model was adorned with 11,441 diamonds for 401.15 total carat weight, making it worth $2 million.
This was followed by the record for the most jewels on a guitar in 2016 when it set 16,033 Swarovski gemstones on a Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass, later played by Jermaine Jackson, a member of The Jackson 5.
