Piaget Celebrates New High Jewelry Collection in Rome
The Sunlight Journey jewelry and timepieces were inspired by the light of Italy.

Rome--Piaget certainly knows how to throw a party.
To launch its new Amalfi-coast inspired high jewelry collection, Sunlight Journey, Piaget further referenced Italian iconography, celebrating with a gala dinner at Rome’s famed Cinecitta film studios.
On Wednesday evening, CEO Chabi Nouri treated guests to a cinematic experience at the studios where 1960’s “La Dolce Vita” was filmed.
Actors Juliette Binoche and Claudia Cardinale, Piaget Possession campaign star Olivia Palermo and her husband Johannes Hubel, plus a bevy of models--all bejeweled in Piaget--enjoyed cocktails in a space designed to look like the backstage area of a film, before a different film set decorated to look like an Italian villa, replete with a canopy of bougainvillea, was revealed behind wooden doors as the dinner’s setting.
Two-star Michelin chef Gennaro Esposito was enlisted to create the night’s menu and musical entertainment ranged from the soundtracks of classic Italian films to DJ Florian Sailer and Aloe Blacc--fresh from performing at the Couture show’s opening night party--for the evening’s after-party, located on yet another film set.
Sunlight Journey references the changing light of the Italian coast, as it transitions in hue from morning to night. Necklaces with vivid combinations of spinel, rubies and yellow diamonds, to name a few, marked the light’s warm intensity, while cooler sapphires and black opals lent a nod to the dramatically different colors of morning and night.
Actress Jessica Chastain wore a few pieces of the collection in Cannes, but Sunlight Journey’s Roman celebration marked the full debut of the high jewelry and timepieces.
The collection also will be on view in Paris during the haute couture and haute joaillerie showings July 3-6; after that, consumers can purchase their own Piaget masterpiece.
