Phillips Is On the Hunt for ‘Double Signed’ Watches
The auction house will hold a sale this fall of timepieces that bear the signature of both the watchmaker and retailer.
Geneva—This fall, Phillips will hold a themed watch auction designed to bring around some of the watch world’s most rare and prized pieces—those that bear the name of the company that made the watch as well as the retailer that sold it.
On Nov. 9 at the Hotel La Réserve in Geneva, Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo will present “Double Signed: A Celebration of the Finest Partnerships of Manufacturers and Retailers,” which the house is calling a first in the watch auction world.
Retailers were vital to the success watchmakers saw at the start of the 20th century, as they imported the finest mechanical watches and presented them to some of the world’s most discerning customers.
The tradition of ordering watches to match the taste of clients continues today with the creation of limited-edition timepieces made exclusively in partnership with high-end brands.
Phillips is now consigning for “Double Signed,” which will be held alongside “The Geneva Watch Auction: Ten.”
Clients can reach out to house’s watch specialists by emailing watches@phillips.com.
Highlights will be presented this summer.
