Antiquorum to open online watch shop
Antiquorum Auctioneers is launching an online store where customers can bid on, purchase and sell rare and fine timepieces.
New York--Antiquorum Auctioneers is launching an online store where customers can bid on, purchase and sell rare and fine timepieces.
Called “Antiquorum Online,” the store will offer watches for immediate purchase throughout the year on a platform that will “make buying and selling timepieces a quick and easy process,” the auction house said.
The exact launch date of the online store has not yet been announced, Antiquorum told National Jeweler on Monday.
On the soon-to-launch site, users will be able to view timepieces from a selection of trusted sellers that have been examined by an Antiquorum watch expert, including Geoffroy Ader, a specialist in the international watch auction business who just joined the company.
Ader will be heading up Antiquorum Online, bringing with him more than 20 years of experience as an auctioneer, author on watches and the auction market, and conference organizer on watch collecting.
“Our objective with Antiquorum’s new online platform is to offer clients an unparalleled retail experience with the added security that comes with over 40 years as the world’s premier watch auctioneers,” he said.
The auction house’s foray into an online-based marketplace for watches closely follows a similar move Christie’s made last spring when it introduced Christie’s Watch Shop, an online timepiece retail store. Christie’s store also offers shoppers a chance to connect directly with a watch specialist, as well as a page dedicated to watch news, interviews and analysis from experts.
