Bulgari Is the Official Jeweler of Tribeca Film Festival
The jewelry brand is releasing two short women-directed films at the festival, which opens today in New York.

New York--Bulgari has inked a three-year deal to act as the official jeweler of the Tribeca Film Festival.
In addition, the Italian jewelry brand and Tribeca Studios developed two original short films that will premiere at the festival, which begins Wednesday in New York.
Both of the films were directed by women and focus on modern Italian women defying female stereotypes and traditional modes of gender perception.
“Conducting a Revolution” is a documentary by writer and director Bella Monticelli. The short explores the work and passion of Speranza Scappucci, one of the most lauded conductors of her generation, as she prepares to conduct the Bellini opera “La Sonnambula” at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the opera that inspired her to pursue a career in music as a young girl.
Filmmaker Nina Meredith follows three women—a police officer, a filmmaker and a motorcycle expert—as they navigate their male-dominated industries in “The Litas.” The film is named for the Rome branch of an international organization of female motorcyclists, to which the three protagonists belong.
“Bulgari is delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate extraordinary Italian women who, like the brand, are bold, daring and larger than life,” Bulgari Group CEO Jean-Christophe Babin said.
“Just as Bulgari pushes boundaries and redefines the rules of jewelry and watch design, the women profiled in these films define their own paths and inspire others to do the same. Our support of Tribeca Film Festival and the young filmmakers who tell these two stories builds on the powerful legacy of Bulgari and cinema, from the iconic Dolce Vita and Elizabeth Taylor until today.”
Executive Vice President of Tribeca Enterprises Paula Weinstein (no relation to Harvey) added: “The stories Bulgari chose to tell reflect the creativity and boldness of the brand. They are paying homage to the modern Italian woman with films, made by female filmmakers that celebrate strong, elegant, passionate subjects—the women of La Dolce Vita reimagined.”
Bulgari has long been involved in cinema, with jewels featured in more than 40 films, from “La Dolce Vita” to “Cleopatra” to “Casino.”
The Roman jewelry house’s latest endeavor represents a shift from the way women were portrayed in these Hollywood and cinematic classics, with the new short films emphasizing women’s stories told from a woman’s perspective.
