Here’s What Is on Tap for the August Atlanta Jewelry Show
The jewelry trade show also has released its spring 2020 dates.

Atlanta—The Atlanta Jewelry Show is back at the Cobb Galleria Centre Aug. 10-12, with a pre-show conference scheduled for Aug. 9.
The theme of this edition of the jewelry trade show is “New Routes.”
AJS Education Director Cindy Chandler said the pre-conference education session lineup is “second to none, with relevant and practical topics designed to provide real solutions to real challenges.”
Topics addressed will include the state of the industry, sales and marketing trends, and succession planning. There will also be interactive GIA lab sessions and seminars, product demonstrations, an American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute mobile classroom, and a talk from American Gem Society President John Carter.
The full schedule is online.
During the show, designer and educator Rémy Rotenier will host a CAD/CAM challenge, in which three jewelers will turn one of Rotenier’s renderings into a CAD or CAM illustration. The competing jewelers are: Gary Dawson of Gary Dawson Designs in Eugene, Oregon; Shele Letwin of Shele’s Jewelry Design Factory in Toronto; and Megan Proctor of Hubbell Jewelry Design in Newnan, Georgia.
A new addition to the jewelry trade show is an area called “1-Stop Shop,” which will provide a variety of services for jewelers like a repair station, hand-engraving station and gem-cutting area, plus resources related to 3-D printing, appraising and e-commerce.
Returning to AJS is the Kids Jewelry Camp, in which children of industry professionals can attend interactive and educational sessions related to gems and jewelry, with a camp for children ages 7-12 and a camp for children 13 and older. Space is limited, so online registration is encouraged.
In addition to the return of regular events like the nightly “Mingle” with special celebration on Saturday night, AJS also will host a special event at the August edition.
Chi Huynh, the creator of Galatea: Jewelry by Artist, will give a rare in-person presentation and live demonstration emphasizing how the power of imagination can be harnessed and utilized in design, AJS said.
“My team and I are excited to offer the perfect combination of goods and services, plus innovative feature areas for our independent jewelers to discover new routes to better products, smarter education and a strong community,” said AJS Executive Director Libby Brown.
AJS also has finalized the dates for its first trade show in 2020; it will take place March 7-9.
