Live from Italy: Casato
The brand debuted its new Aquarius collection at the Vicenzaoro Winter show, a line of pieces in 18-karat gold with diamonds that are meant to be worn every day.
Vicenza, Italy--Inspired by the popular 1969 musical medley “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In,” Italian fine jewelry brand Casato debuted the Aquarius collection at the Vicenzaoro Winter show, which kicked off Friday morning in Italy.
“With all of the negativity in the world right now, I wanted to make a collection about something positive,” Casato founder and CEO Federico Gauttieri told National Jeweler at the show, explaining that the line’s aesthetic is meant to represent the reaching rays of the sun.
Aquarius is a collection designed to be worn “all the time,” both day and night, Gauttieri said. “You don’t need a special occasion (to wear it). It’s not too much, it’s not too little.”
Also on display at the Vicenzaoro show, which runs through Wednesday, was Casato’s previously exclusive Boutique collection. Featuring white diamonds set in 18-karat pink and white gold, the line plays with the circle form and is meant to be “classy and trendy,” Gauttieri said.
Boutique initially was meant for Casato’s boutiques in the Italian cities of Rome and Milan, but the brand has since decided to spread its distribution. This show marks the second time it is being offered to retailers, the first being at the Vicenzaoro Fall show that took place in September.
Rings in the Boutique collection range in retail price from $1,400 to $4,800, while earrings are priced between $1,500 and $6,000.
Also new at the show were additions to Casato’s already-existing collection, Noor. Noor means “light” in Arabic, Gauttieri explained, and boasts bright colors in the form of emeralds, sapphires and rubies set in 18-karat pink and white gold with white diamond accents. The pieces in this line retail from $3,000 to $4,500.
All three collections will be showcased at the Couture show in Las Vegas this May.
