AGS Introduces Digital ‘Badges’
Members can now display their affiliation with website and social media icons.

Las Vegas—The American Gem Society is now making it easier for its members to show their affiliation on their (digital) sleeves.
The nonprofit trade association announced last week the creation of a digital icon for use on jewelers’ websites, social media and e-mails.
The clickable icons link to a page on the AGS website that details how a specific member earned their AGS credentials.
AGS created the digital badges as a way to increase consumer confidence by sharing the ways members uphold the organization’s mission to promote strong business ethics and continuing education.
AGS members can find instructions for creating and using their badge online.
AGS and AGS Laboratories CEO Katherine Bodoh said in a statement: “In their stores, our members proudly display their certificates, but they cannot do that online or in emails. Digital badging acts as that virtual wall behind their desk or counter where they can proudly display their hard-earned certificates.
“It’s one more way we can let consumers know about the importance of shopping with an AGS jeweler, and is a point of differentiation for the jeweler.”
