Casio America Names New Timepiece Division Manager
Casio executive and watch enthusiast Masaki Obu is the new general manager of its U.S. timepiece division.

The Casio executive has been with the company for 16 years, holding leadership roles across Japan, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Oceania.
He succeeds Tadashi Shibuya.
In his new role, Obu will be tasked with overseeing the U.S. timepiece division’s marketing activities and leading its strategic, operational, and financial performance, including for its legacy brands like G-Shock.
His background in sales, marketing, business planning, and market analysis will help him to further bolster Casio’s U.S. presence, said the company.
Obu will be based in Casio America’s headquarters in Dover, New Jersey.
“Casio’s strength has always been the fusion of precision engineering and bold creativity,” said Obu.
“I’m honored to lead our U.S. Timepiece team as we deepen that fusion by creating products and experiences that inspire every generation of Americans to ‘Keep Moving Forward’ with Casio on their wrist.”
Casio added that Obu is “particularly energized” by the diversity and fast-paced nature of the U.S. market, and wants to better resonate with Gen Z and “emerging voices.”
Obu is a watch enthusiast who had built up his collection of Casio and G-Shock watches prior to joining the company.
His key goals for the U.S. timepiece division include strengthening brand equity by spotlighting G-Shock’s offerings, accelerating omnichannel growth both online and offline, and deepening community engagement through collaborations with local artists, athletes, and changemakers.
Casio recently appointed longtime executive Yusuke Suzuki as its new president and CEO of Casio America.
