For anniversary, retailer crash-lands in Oz
Haig’s of Rochester Fine Jewelry will celebrate its 41st anniversary by hosting a Wizard of Oz-themed party at the store complete with costumed characters from the movie, which is 75 years old this year.
Haig’s of Rochester Fine Jewelry in Michigan will celebrate its 41st anniversary by hosting a Wizard of Oz-themed party for customers and friends at the store next month.
Designed to also mark the 75th anniversary of the film, which came out in 1939, the event will include a sidewalk sales preview, a wine tasting hosted by nearby wine retailer Cose di Lusso, refreshments, and costumed characters from the movie.
Haig’s also hold a silent auction of Wizard of Oz-themed gifts and packages. Attendees will have the chance to win a bracelet with charms depicting items and scenes from the movie from Angelica Bracelets.
Proceeds from the anniversary event will benefit the Rochester Area Neighborhood House, a nonprofit assisting members of the local community during times of hardship, as well as Flip Flops for Families, which provides footwear, medical supplies, education, and other supplies to poor communities around the world.
Attendees are being asked to bring footwear for donation to the party.
Haig’s 41st anniversary party is scheduled for July 9 at Haig’s of Rochester (formerly P.R. Haig Jewelers), located on Main Street in Rochester, Mich.
“Even though we are turning 41 years old, every day seems new and exciting at Haig’s. Since 1973, our mission has been to handle distinctive art and jewelry and to provide the very best in customer service,” said founder and owner Paul Haig.
“That mission has stayed the same, even though we’ve made a few changes over the years, not only our addresses on Main Street and our name, but this summer we have a brand-new store layout that will delight customers and offer them a distinctive and special shopping experience.”
Founded in 1973, family-owned Haig’s offers contemporary, custom, and antique and estate jewelry, as well as antique Asian ceramics, prints and textiles.
