ASA intros new education for appraisal reports
The American Society of Appraisers announced Wednesday that it will offer a new class next month for practicing gem and jewelry appraisers on how to write correct reports.
Reston, Va.--The American Society of Appraisers announced Wednesday that it will offer a new class next month for practicing gem and jewelry appraisers on how to write correct reports.
The course, titled “GJ202-Appraising Gems and Jewelry for Insurance Coverage,” is required for those seeking ASA accreditation. It will be held from July 21 to 24 at 7925 Jones Branch Dr. in McLean, Va.
While the class is intended to teach the basics, the ASA said it also will appeal to practicing gem and jewelry appraisers because it will offer the most up-to-date information about terminology and Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice requirements.
It also will provide the opportunity to network with appraisers from across the country.
Students who complete the course will be able to write gem and jewelry appraisal reports for insurance coverage in compliance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, or USPAP, and ASA report writing requirements.
“Continuing education is of paramount importance to practicing jewelry appraisers,” said Teri Brossmer, education chair for the ASA’s Gems and Jewelry discipline. “We strive to provide our members with the best jewelry appraisal education available. The subject matter covered in this course is immediately applicable to our daily practice as professional jewelry appraisers.”
The class is open to both ASA members ($795) and non-members ($945). Grants to help pay for tuition are available through the ASA Educational Foundation.
For more information or to register for the class, visit the ASA website or call 800-272-8258. The deadline for registration is Friday, July 18.
