Las Vegas--The American Gem Society has launched a virtual guild for members and non-members alike to allow the industry to come together online.
Peter Yantzer, executive director of AGS Laboratories, will kick off the first “GoTo” guild meeting with a presentation titled “Light Performance 101” Tuesday at 9 a.m. PST. It will be a primer on the AGS’s groundbreaking Light Performance Cut Grade.
GoTo Guilds, featuring one-off seminars, is not meant to replace the traditional guild meetings that AGS has around the country but rather to supplement them, the organization said.
“Originally, the intention of the guilds was a way for our members in remote areas to have a meeting, albeit virtually. We quickly realized that with the breadth of educational topics we can offer, though, members of our traditional guilds might also want to attend these virtual meetings,” said Laura Stanley, chair of the International Guilds.
For questions about GoTo Guilds, contact the AGS membership department at 866-805-6500, ext. 1031.
Registration for Yantzer’s presentation scheduled to take place Tuesday can be accessed here.
The AGS currently has 32 guilds, including an international Commonwealth Guild, which also meets virtually and will be presenting Yantzer’s webinar today.
The guilds hold quarterly meetings, featuring networking and educational speakers covering a range of topics, from gemology to store security to digital marketing.
