GIA introduces new format for grading reports
The Gemological Institute of America has a new format for its diamond grading and gem identification reports that will offer enhanced security features and technological upgrades.
The Gemological Institute of America’s new diamond grading and gem identification reports are available as of Jan. 1.
Carlsbad, Calif.--The Gemological Institute of America has a new format for its diamond grading and gem identification reports that will offer enhanced security features and technological upgrades.
Specifically, the new reports will be printed with Quick Response (QR) codes on them to provide direct access to the GIA’s online report check service, which will allow clients and consumers to confirm the authenticity of grading and identification reports with their smartphones.
Security-wise, the new reports will be printed on a unique and durable proprietary paper. The dimensions of the reports will be similar to the prior versions but will use less paper and other materials.
Upon request, the GIA is offering no-cost reissues for reports issued from July 1, 2013 through Dec. 31, 2013. Reissues of reports from Jan. 1, 2013 through June 30, 2013 will be available for a fee. The previous reports must be returned to the GIA before the reissues can be processed.
