GIA CEO guest of honor at Israel’s diamond week
The Israel Diamond Exchange will welcome GIA President and CEO Susan Jacques as its guest of honor for International Diamond Week, scheduled to take place in September at the IDE.

Ramat Gan, Israel--The Israel Diamond Exchange will welcome GIA President and CEO Susan Jacques as its guest of honor for International Diamond Week, scheduled to take place in September at the IDE.
Jacques spent 31 years at Borsheims Fine Jewelry and Gifts in Omaha, Neb. and had served as the retailer’s president and CEO since 1994 before officially taking over the lead role based Gemological Institute of America in January.
In a release announcing Jacques as the guest of honor, IDE President Shmuel Schintzer, who personally extended her the invitation, said that the IDE has about 250 female bourse members, which is slightly less than 10 percent of its total membership.
However, he said he sees that changing in the coming years as more young women are becoming candidate members of the IDE.
“It will be our honor to host Susan Jacques at the upcoming diamond week,” he said. “Women play an increasingly important role in the diamond, gem and jewelry supply pipeline and Ms. Jacques is yet another shining example of how women have succeeded and climbed the career ladder in our industry.”
As has taken place in past years, qualified and confirmed buyers for International Diamond Week will be offered up to four free nights in designated hotels located near the IDE in Ramat Gan.
Organized through a partnership among the Antwerp Diamond Bourse, the IDE and the Diamond Dealers Club of New York, International Diamond Week brings together polished diamond buyers and sellers from all around the globe. In addition, this year’s event includes a polished diamond auction from the Rapaport Group, and organizers said they are negotiating with other partners to add events for the week.
