For the third year in a row, Leo Schachter Diamonds tops the list of Israel’s polished diamond exporters, figures published recently by the Israel Diamond Controller’s Office show.
Ramat Gan--For the third year in a row, Leo Schachter Diamonds tops the list of Israel’s polished diamond exporters, figures published recently by the Israel Diamond Controller’s Office show.
In 2013, Leo Schachter recorded net exports of $328 million, topping MID House of Diamonds, which came in again at No. 2 with $247 million in exports.
Retaining the No. 3 spot was A.A. Rachminov Diamonds with $210 million in polished exports, meaning the list’s top three companies were unchanged year-over-year.
Sliding into the No. 4 spot in 2013 was Niru Diamonds with $112 million, up from No. 5 last year, while Ofer Mizrahi Diamonds claimed the No. 5 spot, recording $103 million in polished exports.
Notably absent from the top five this year was Safdico (Israel) Ltd., the diamond cutting and polishing company in which billionaire diamantaire Laurence Graff has a stake.
Safdico was new to the top five in 2013 but is absent entirely from the top 20 this year, though the Diamond Controller’s office notes that the list of 20 companies does not include 19 companies that chose not to publish their export figures.
In the No. 6 spot was Andre Mesika with $100 million in polished exports, followed by DN Diamonds with $94 million, Yoshfe Diamonds International with $91 million, Rosey Blue Sales with $82 million and, rounding out the top 10, OSG Polishing with $77 million.
Total net polished exports of the 20 largest companies hit $1.95 billion in 2013, accounting for nearly 32 percent of the country’s total polished exports of $6.2 billion.
The complete list of the top 20 can be found on the Israeli Diamond Industry website.
