70-carat white among stones in Rio Tinto tender
A 70-carat rough white diamond from the Diavik mine in Canada is among the lots that will be offered at Rio Tinto’s first tender of the year, which will take place in Israel and Antwerp.

Antwerp--A 70-carat rough white diamond from the Diavik mine in Canada is among the lots that will be offered at Rio Tinto’s first tender of the year, which will take place in Israel and Antwerp.
The rough tender is in Israel now through the end of the week. Then it will move to Antwerp where it will remain until March 28.
The tender consists of a total of 124 lots of rough white and fancy colored diamonds from Rio Tinto’s Argyle mine in Australia, Murowa mine in Zimbabwe and Diavik mine in Canada.
In addition to the 70-carat rough, buyers can bid on fancy and intense yellow diamonds, purple diamonds from the Diavik mine, and large dark brown diamonds and a range of extremely rare natural pink diamonds from the Argyle mine.
“This tender offers an opportunity to view and bid for the full suite of Rio Tinto’s diverse diamond productions, for which there is continued strong global demand,” said Patrick Coppens, general manager of sales for Rio Tinto.
Rio Tinto said viewings for the tender in Israel are fully booked, but appointments are open for Antwerp. Those interested in viewings or to participate in the tender can call +32 3 303 68 68 or email auctionsales@riotinto.com.
