Susan Jacques, Gaetano Cavalieri to Headline 2025 ICA Congress
The Congress is scheduled to take place May 19-22 in Brasilia, Brazil.

Jacques, who is slated to retire at the end of the year, and Cavalieri, president of CIBJO, The World Jewellery Confederation, will headline a seminar series focusing on “Gems for Generations.”
Jacques has served as head of GIA for the past 11 years.
She earned her GIA Graduate Gemologist diploma in 1980 and has served on the organization’s board of governors since 1996.
Jacques is also a fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A), has served on numerous industry boards and foundations, and received the 2024 Gem Award for Lifetime Achievement.
Cavalieri, a leader in the international jewelry community, has served as CIBJO president for more than 20 years.
“The ICA is thrilled to have two of the most dedicated and passionate industry icons leading our conversations about ‘Gems for Generations,’ and we’re especially lucky to experience it in the beautiful surroundings of one of the great gemstone-producing countries, Brazil,” ICA CEO Doug Hucker said.
Rui Galopim de Carvalho, a gem education consultant, author, and international lecturer on gemology and the history of gem materials in cultural heritage jewelry, will return as master of ceremonies.
ICA’s 2025 Congress is scheduled to take place May 19-22 in Brasilia, Brazil, at the Royal Tulip Brasilia Alvorada hotel.
The four-day event will include dozens of presentations from colored gemstone experts on topics including new mining sources and technology, efforts to improve and expand supply chain sustainability and integrity, and strategies for driving colored gemstone sales.
The Brazilian Gems and Jewellery Trade Association (IBGM) is hosting the conference.
