WNBA Champions New York Liberty Take Home Tiffany & Co. Trophy
It marks the first championship win in the team’s 28-year history.

The Liberty beat the Minnesota Lynx 67-62 in overtime during Game 5 of the championships on Sunday, Oct. 20.
The win was the team’s first in its 28-year history and New York City’s first professional basketball championship since 1973.
The game was held in the Liberty’s hometown at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, which made the victory even sweeter.
Tiffany & Co. has produced the WNBA Finals Championship and MVP trophies since the WNBA’s inaugural season in 1997.
The WNBA Finals trophy, which was redesigned in 2023, weighs 26 pounds and stands 25 inches tall, said the jeweler.
It was handcrafted at the Tiffany hollowware workshop in Cumberland, Rhode Island, and took approximately four months to complete.
To pay tribute to the alternating panels of the WNBA’s signature game ball, the ball on top of both trophies features contrasting finishes.
The angled stems remained after the redesign to honor the tradition of the original WNBA logo and Championship trophy.
At the base of the championship trophy are the team names of each previous champion in the league’s history.
“Inspired by the transcendent form and energy of competition, these revered symbols of athletic achievement are a lasting tribute to the athletes’ dedication and the highest standards of excellence,” said Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany creates a number of sports trophies, including for the U.S. Open and the NFL’s Vince Lombardi trophy.
It’s also the maker of several basketball trophies, including the NBA Finals Larry O'Brien Trophy, the Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP Award, and the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Championship trophies.
