Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Reference 6300GR-001

To start, the new Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Reference 6300GR-001 is a mixed-metal version of the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime, launched in 2014 as a limited edition before joining the current collection in 2016.

The Grandmaster Chime is Patek’s most complicated timepiece with 20 complications including five chiming modes, an alarm that strikes a pre-selected time, and a date repeater that strikes the date on demand.

The Ref. 6300GR-001 is rendered in white and rose gold. It has two brown opaline dials and a hand-guillochéd “Clou de Paris,” or hobnob pattern, on the side showing the time of day. The rich chestnut brown alligator strap is closed with a white and rose gold mixed metal buckle.

The price is available upon request.

Gemstone lovers and innovation appreciators will prefer the high jewelry version, the Grandmaster Chime Haute Joaillerie Reference 6300/403G-001, which has a reversible dial with entirely different looks and features.

With 118 baguette-cut emeralds totaling 7.87 carats and 291 baguette-cut diamonds totaling 20.54 carats, the time side features a mix of emeralds and diamonds, two ebony black opaline dials, and a hand-guillochéd Clou de Paris pattern, while the calendar side features diamonds.

The black alligator strap has emerald-green hand stitching. The price is available upon request.

This timepiece has a baguette-cut diamond predecessor, Reference 6300/400G-001, and a baguette-cut diamond and baguette-cut blue sapphire predecessor, Reference 6300/401G-001, both released last year.

Grand Complication Reference 5316/50P-001

Moving on to the Reference 5316, launched in 2017, is the updated Grand Complication Reference 5316/50P-001. The timepiece combines a minute repeater, a tourbillon, a perpetual calendar with retrograde date hand, and a moon-phase indicator.

The new edition has a platinum case and sapphire-crystal dial with a blue metallic effect plus a black-gradient rim that allows a peek at the mechanics beneath. The price is available upon request.

Minute Repeaters
Patek Philippe says it has the largest selection of minute-repeating wristwatches in a brand’s current collection, and there are now two more in its “Rare Handcrafts” category.

Rare Handcrafts World Time Minute Repeater Reference 5531G-001

The brand’s first minute repeater model that always strikes the local time, the new Rare Handcrafts World Time Minute Repeater Reference 5531G-001, is the first World Time Minute Repeater timepiece rendered in white gold.

The dial’s Grand Feu cloisonné enamel depicts a steamboat on Lake Geneva. The watch’s price is available upon request.

The new Rare Handcrafts Minute Repeater Reference 5178G-012 has a self-winding movement and “cathedral-style” gongs, so called for their deep, rich sound. The new dial features blue Grand Feu flinqué enamel over a hand-guillochéd swirling pattern.

Its price is also available from Patek Philippe upon request.

The entire Rare Handcrafts collection is comprised of one-of-a-kind or limited-edition pieces like dome table clocks, table clocks, and pocket watches in addition to wristwatches.

The full range of 2023 Rare Handcrafts, numbering 67 pieces, will be on display to the public at an exhibition at the Patek Philippe Salons in Geneva from April 1-15.

Calatrava
Launched in 1932, the Calatrava is a Patek Philippe mainstay, with the brand adding complications over the years, like dual time zones and a weekly calendar.

Adding to the oeuvre of Calatrava travel watches is the new Calatrava Reference 5224R-001. It has a Travel Time dual time zone and an original 24-hour display.

It’s powered by the new caliber 31-260 PS FUS 24H self-winding movement, which has a patented system for correcting local time by the crown.

The rose gold case has a blue dial with rose gold numerals and time markers applied by hand. The timepiece sells for $57,366.

Patek also introduced chronographs to its Calatrava Pilot Travel Time range for the first time.

For 2023, the Aquanaut Luce has a new complication.

The Aquanaut was introduced in 1997 and the women’s Aquanaut Luce line in 2004.

In 2021, the Aquanaut Luce was updated with a Travel Time dual time-zone model, and, in 2022, a self-winding chronograph version.
