GIA introduces the Diamond Focus Report
The new lower cost digital report is available for natural round brilliant-cut diamonds that weigh between 0.15 and 0.29 carats.
Carlsbad, Calif.--The Gemological Institute of America announced this week that it now has a lower cost digital report for smaller diamonds.
Called the GIA Diamond Focus Report, it’s available for natural, D-Z color, round brilliant-cut diamonds that weigh between 0.15 and 0.29 carats.
The report will provide carat weight, color, clarity and cut grades, as well as a polish and symmetry grade with a fluorescence description.
Laser inscription of the GIA report number also is included, and although a printed report is not issued with this service, results are available through the GIA’s online Report Check.
“Recent innovations and developments in technology allow us to offer this reduced-fee service for smaller diamonds,” said Tom Moses, executive vice president and chief laboratory and research officer at the GIA. “The Diamond Focus Report will help address consumer and industry demand for rigorous and independent examination of smaller diamonds.”
The GIA Diamond Focus Report is $20 for diamonds weighing between 0.15 and 0.22 carats, and $22 for diamonds between 0.23 and 0.29 carats.
The service is available now at the GIA’s labs in Carlsbad, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Mumbai, New York and Tokyo. Additional locations will offer the report “in the near future,” the GIA said.
Servicing for the reports will be done through My Laboratory or web services; for assistance or to set up an account, contact a client service representative for assistance. For more details, visit GIA.edu.
