Itä’s ‘Yarí Whirl’ Ring Tells Every Side of the Story
In the “Tesoro” version of the ring, our Piece of the Week, each side of the gold hexagonal nugget has a unique colored gemstone design.

Itä’s “Yarí Whirl” turn-style ring explores this idea with a 14-karat yellow gold hexagonal “nugget” that spins.
Each of the six sides is meant to reveal an element from one’s story and can be customized with engravings or gemstones.
Our Piece of the Week, the “Tesoro” version, is a set design featuring six different gemstone types.
The ring features a 0.25-carat princess-cut citrine, 0.14-carat heart-cut garnet, 0.25-carat pear-cut topaz, 0.12-carat round-cut emerald, 0.60-carat oval-cut cabochon sapphire, and three baguette-cut sapphires totaling 0.45 carats.
“Tesoro,” a Spanish term of endearment, translates to “treasure.”
Co-founders Inés Capó and Äfet Burcu Salargil wanted to create something reminiscent of a stone you might stumble upon in a riverbed during an excursion and with that, the Yarí nugget was born.
The Yarí represents “that quiet moment of discovery when you find something in nature, connect with it, and make it your own,” explained the co-founders.
“With each facet open to personalization, we knew we wanted the ring to turn, like pages in a book, revealing a story over time and the twists and turns of life … or ‘las vueltas de la vida’ as we say in Spanish.”

The two friends, who met at Syracuse University, founded Itä jewelry in 2019.
Together they create pieces inspired by ancient artifacts and stories from their ancestral homelands.
The jewelry incorporates Capó’s heritage with designs inspired by mythical stories from the indigenous Taíno people of Puerto Rico, and honors Salargil’s roots by using symbols from her culture and Turkish craftsmanship.
The Yarí nugget takes different forms throughout their collections.
It appears at the center of the Whirl ring but is also available as a charm pendant that is often styled on their gemstone bead strands, which can be seen in Couture’s Design Atelier in May.
“The concept of Yarí is a labor of love from beginning to end. Its development took nearly a year, with work carried out between Puerto Rico and Turkey,” said Capó and Salargil.
The intricate element is handcrafted and consists of up to 10 separate components that are assembled and then finished with the combination of multi-color faceted gemstones and engravings a client selects to tell their story.
The Yarí Whirl ring debuted in 2022.
The Tesoro design retails for $9,450 and is available on the Itä website.
