Gübelin Academy Bringing Colored Gemstone Course to NYC
Level 1 of its three-level diploma program is coming to its New York lab this September.

The Level 1 course of the academy’s three-level Coloured Gem Professional diploma program will take place in Manhattan from Sept. 9-10.
The academy said Level 1 is the foundational cornerstone of the program, and the course is designed for gemstone enthusiasts and industry professionals.
The two-day course will be hosted at Gübelin’s New York lab, located at 608 Fifth Avenue, where it was established in 2017.
It costs $1,250.
The curriculum will cover the gemological and historical basics of rubies, sapphires, and emeralds.
It will also touch on the essential assessment criteria and value of the gemstones, as well as key gemological properties and the emotional allure of these stones.
A certificate of attendance will be provided upon completion of the course.
"Our family-owned company has cherished a close bond with New York since the 1920s. I am thrilled that the Academy offers its inspiring courses here and collaborates with the Gem Lab," said Raphael Gübelin, president of the House of Gübelin.
The family-owned company launched the Gübelin Academy in 2013 to bring its comprehensive education offerings to a wider audience of gemstone lovers and experts.
In addition to its New York offering, the academy hosts programs in Hong Kong, as well as Lucerne, Switzerland, where it is headquartered.
Gübelin said its educational programs embody its “Deeply Inspired” philosophy and are designed to provide participants with a curriculum that emphasizes the inner and outer beauty of gemstones while enriching their understanding of the stones’ creation, history, and symbolism.
Registration for the New York Level 1 course is open now on Gübelin’s website.
