Tiffany Taps Reed Krakoff for Home Collaboration
It’s the latest initiative the retailer has announced in the face of slow jewelry sales.
New York--Three-time CFDA award winner Reed Krakoff will collaborate with Tiffany & Co. on its gifts, home and accessories collections for 2017.
"Drawing on the world’s most exciting creative talent is quintessential Tiffany,” said Tiffany CEO Frederic Cumenal. “Reed has a unique and celebrated vision for iconic American design, which perfectly complements our brand. Reed’s expertise and creativity will serve to re-invigorate these important collections for our portfolio.”
Krakoff has a lengthy history in fashion and accessory design, and is best known for his namesake line, which ceased production last year, and his role as creative director of Coach, which he left in 2013.
The designer has since launched a collection at Kohl’s.
His collaboration with Tiffany will include the leather, eyewear and tabletop categories.
“I’m thrilled to be collaborating with such an iconic global house of luxury,” said Krakoff. “Given Tiffany's rich creative history, I very much look forward to infusing my own passion for design with the timeless sophistication and quality of the brand.”
News of Krakoff’s collaboration comes after several other attempts to modernize the company in the wake of poor sales.
In April, Tiffany began selling a selection of fine jewelry on e-commerce site Net-a-Porter and announced a partnership with Vogue Creative Director-At-Large Grace Coddington. The jeweler also is expanding more into fragrance, with a new line of perfumes produced in partnership with Coty.
