The 13 Most Jaw-Dropping Emmy Jewelry Looks

The 2018 Emmy Awards were a night of matchy-matchy jewelry moments in which actresses color-coordinated their gems to their gowns.

It wasn’t all diamonds at the 2018 Emmy Awards. Here, newcomer actress and fashion-world regular Poppy Delevingne sports citrine and diamond earrings from Amwaj.
Los Angeles—The 70th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were awash in sparkly moments, and we’re not talking about any charming acceptance speeches.

We’re referencing the many jewelry highlights actresses, their stylists and jewelry designers presented on the red carpet.

Independent designers received their due alongside larger jewelry brands, and many stylists chose to match actresses’ jewels to their gowns.

See the 13 jewelry looks we feel deserve accolades.

We’ll counter the standard awards show format and start off with arguably the best jewelry look of the night: Emilia Clarke in Fernando Jorge. Against the backdrop of a scintillating black lace and embroidered Dior gown, Jorge’s nephrite jade, green tourmaline, 18-karat yellow gold and diamond Rocket earrings from the new Surround collection gleamed.

Clarke topped the look off in a smattering of Jorge’s rings from various popular collections like Brilliant and Stream, culminating in a perfect snapshot of the designer’s oeuvre.

Regina King, Mary Steenburgen and Connie Britton all sported red carpet indie favorite Irene Neuwirth, but our favorite were the latter actress’s gumball drop earrings, which matched her vibrant green and blue Sachin and Babi gown. The one-of-a-kind pair featured green tourmaline, emerald and diamond pavé with good-enough-to-eat chrysoprase spheres.

Speaking of matchy-matchy, the bold 18-karat yellow gold bezel setting of Natalia Dyer’s Lorraine Schwartz earrings were the ideal accent for the actress’s gold Dolce & Gabbana column dress. The diamonds they held weren’t bad either—just 11 carats worth of bling, which for red carpet queen Schwartz is practically paltry.

Schwartz is known for her elaborate pieces, and at the Emmys, she really hit it out of the park with her colored gemstone feats. These baubles donned by Ellie Kemper feature coral, carved amethyst, diamonds and lavender jade in a creative combination rarely seen on such a high-wattage stage.

Indeed, when colored gemstones make appearances on major red carpet events, it’s typically one of the big three: emeralds, rubies or sapphires. It was the former, also designed by Schwartz, that adorned the lobes of Dakota Fanning, and it was one of this emerald-fanatic editor’s favorite looks. What’s not to love about 180 carats of Colombian emeralds?

If you could tear your eyes away from the earrings, you’d notice that Fanning also sported Schwartz’s emerald rings. Complimenting her green Dior gown, the monochrome moment was as vibrant as they come.

Schwartz didn’t stop there. She also adorned Heidi Klum in a major statement necklace and ring that mixed her love of mega diamonds and exciting color. The platinum bib necklace, pictured above, featured rose-cut diamonds and dreamy pink diamonds. In total, the necklace totaled 100 carats.

Tina Fey kept it classic, both in the style of jewelry she wore and in her choice of maker. She complimented her black and multicolor belted gown with Oscar Heyman platinum and cushion-cut diamond earrings, with the 10 stones totaling 11.60 carats. Miss Fey knows you can’t go wrong with a tried-and-true black and white combination, and while several actresses sported cascading white diamond earrings, these were our favorites.

Scarlett Johansson was a vision in white, and her pushed-back coif let her Nikos Koulis earrings get the spotlight they deserved. The Universe Line white diamond chandelier earrings in 18-karat white gold are a classic Koulis Deco-esque style—graphic and mixing various fancy cuts. The best part? They feature a row of tiny rough diamonds, a new direction for the talented designer.

Johansson also wore a ring from the Oui collection, featuring an emerald-cut white diamond center stone in 18-karat white gold with black enamel and diamond pavé.

Poppy Delevingne is an actress who hails from a social and fashion background—her sister is supermodel Cara Delevingne—and it shows in her superior sartorial style. From her turquoise Giambattista Valli gown to her bold, on-trend hair bows, the socialite nailed her biggest red carpet look to date. And despite the boldness of her styling, she didn’t skimp on the jewels. She donned drool-worthy Amwaj citrine and diamond earrings.

She completed the jewelry set with a citrine and diamond ring, also by Amwaj. In total, the jewels are valued at $200,000.

Earrings might get all the glory at awards shows, they are the jewel worn closest to the face, after all, but Sandra Oh made an argument for bracelets being the most exciting part of an overall look. She wore Neil Lane fancy-cut diamond, ruby and platinum bracelets with a cabochon ruby, diamond and platinum wide bracelet that matched her elegant Ralph & Russo dress. The actress also wore Neil Lane round- and baguette-cut diamond earrings with pear-shaped diamond drops.

Solidifying the “match your jewels to your outfit” theme of the night, comedian and actress Leslie Jones managed to coordinate her earrings to her ombré Christian Siriano suit (no easy feat), and she rocked an indie designer in the process. The color coordination came courtesy of Jordan Alexander Jewelry opal and diamond drop earrings. Jones also wore a matching ring.

No awards show story could be complete without a Harry Winston mention and the jewelry house got its due on the ears of Emmy award winner Thandie Newton. Newton sported a pair of Harry Winston “Secret Combination” diamond hoop earrings from its high jewelry offerings, which served as the perfect accoutrement to the gold statue she took home.

Penelope Cruz can be counted on to deliver a look reminiscent of the glamour of Old Hollywood. This time around, she achieved it with a white, feather-adorned Chanel gown and—wait for it—Atelier Swarovski jewels.

The actress recently designed a fine jewelry collection with Atelier Swarovski, consisting of 18-karat Fairmined gold and Swarovski’s lab-created diamonds, rubies and sapphires, as well as genuine Swarovski topaz. The Emmys saw her in lab-grown diamond earrings and a show-stopping necklace.
