These 12 Colors Will Take Over Next Spring
Pantone said its predicted palette feels familiar, but still leaves room for self-expression.

The trend forecasting agency selected 12 colors, describing the chosen palette as expressing a “desire for a sense of the familiar,” while still allowing for self-expression and personalization.
“Combining our desire for stability, creativity and more spontaneous design approaches, the color palette for Spring/Summer 2020 infuses heritage and tradition with a colorful youthful update that creates strong multi-colored combinations as well as energizing and optimistic pairings,” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said in a press release.
The institute’s semi-annual Fashion Color Trend Report forecasts which colors will dominate runways at New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week and, thereby, be in stores the following season.
Flame Scarlet is first on the list, a bright, bold red that “exudes confidence and determination,” Pantone said.
Saffron is a warm yellow like the morning sunshine, while Classic Blue evokes “the vast and infinite evening sky.”
Biscay Green is described as a cool, refreshing aqua shade, while Chive is a more “savory” green, imparting “a healthy and restorative harmony.”
Faded Denim is a cool, dusky blue, reminiscent of a comfy, worn-in pair of jeans, while Orange Peel is a warmer hue, vibrant like the fresh fruit.
Mosaic Blue “displays an air of mystique, grace and depth of feeling,” said Pantone.
Sunlight is a soft, yellow tone, meant to invite “happiness, pleasant cheer and a smiling presence,” while Coral Pink is a warm, blush pink.
Cinnamon Stick is a warm, earthy brown while Grape Compote is a mellow yet rich purple.
In addition to the 12 shades, Pantone also chose four classic colors that can be worn alone or paired with another contrasting color.
Lark is an “understated and versatile khaki,” while Navy Blazer is a deep blue, described as “stylish and self-assured.”
Brilliant White is a bright white meant to represent “simplicity and modernity,” while Ash is a light gray, meant to convey “a message of longevity.”
