Antiquorum selling Paul Newman’s racing gear
The suit and helmet worn by actor and race-car driver Paul Newman in the 1980s is expected to sell for up to $70,000 at Antiquorum’s April 9 sale.

The red, white and blue suit and helmet are accompanied by photos of Newman wearing them, as well as a letter of authenticity written by P. Avanzato, a fabricator at Bob Sharp Racing from 1972 to 1987.
Keeping with the racing theme, the sale also will offer an Omega Speedmaster watch given to race- car builder and Maybelline heir Jerry Westhouse by Newman Haas Racing in 1977. The self-winding stainless steel wristwatch, made in 1996, features a round-button chronograph and registers and has a pre-sale high estimate of $8,000.
Antiquorum’s 302-lot auction of Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces, which will be held in New York, will also feature a number of wristwatches from Patek Philippe.
A Patek Philippe Ref. 5102 “Celestial” astronomic wristwatch produced in 2003 is expected to sell for as much as $200,000. The white gold watch features mean time indication, nocturnal sky of the Northern Hemisphere, moon phases and moon orbit and time of the meridian passage of Sirius and the moon.
