The recently revamped World Diamond Council has begun an international search for an executive director who will handle the day-to-day management of the organization, a new role at the WDC.
New York--The recently revamped World Diamond Council has begun an international search for an executive director who will handle the day-to-day management of the organization, a new role at the WDC.
The WDC executive director will be responsible for managing the budget and membership drives, providing strategic direction, working with governments, stakeholders and other organizations, and serving as the WDC representative to the Kimberley Process. This person will work under the authority of newly elected WDC President Edward Asscher and the executive committee.
The hiring of an executive director will mark the first time the WDC, which was run by former President Eli Izhakoff from its inception in 2000 until he stepped down last year, will be headed by a salaried administrator.

“The appointment of an executive director will be a key step in our process to reform the WDC, and to equip it to meet the challenges of the future,” Asscher said. “It is a position that encompasses real challenge and also one in which an individual can bring about positive change, both in the industry and in the lives of our stakeholders.”
The WDC said it is looking for individuals with a minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in an administrative position, with at least five of those years spent in a senior management position. General experience with extractives, commodities, manufacturing, specialty goods, retail or product supply chains, as well as knowledge about corporate and social responsibility, are a plus.
