Every month, our digital team sends web traffic statistics about National Jeweler: how many visitors we had and what the top content was for the month, both on the site and the 10X Blog, which is calculated separately.
Aside from our $100 Million Supersellers and Top 50 North American Retail Chains lists, which are both part of our State of the Majors report that can be found here on our redesigned site, the most popular stories generally fell into one of three categories.
They were about what celebrities wore at awards shows (the Primetime Emmys, Golden Globes, Grammys, Oscars and SAG Awards), Pantone’s Color of the Year--it was Emerald Green in 2013--and its colors of the seasons or the Couture show, which is owned by the same company as National Jeweler.
After the State of the Majors, the most popular story of the year was a preview of 20 pieces from designers who were new to the Couture show in 2013, followed by our September coverage of the 65th Emmy Awards. A post-show roundup of the trends seen at Couture--gold and art deco designs--also snuck into the top 10 most-viewed pages of the year.
Following not far behind the Couture preview in popularity were our stories on the Golden Globes from 2013 (not to be confused with this report just published on the 2014 Golden Globes) and the 2013 Grammys, which are coming up again this Sunday.
Popular from Pantone was our August rundown of Pantone’s colors for the fall as well as our announcement about the 2013 Color of the Year and Pantone’s palette for spring.
As I mentioned above, none of this is surprising. We already knew, through shares on social media among other indicators, that readers really enjoy our post-red carpet event roundups and Pantone color reports.
So, we will continue to bring you what you like in 2014. To an extent, we already have begun.
We reviewed the jewelry at the Golden Globes and will do so for the Grammy Awards next week. And, we attempted to brighten up what has been a fierce winter so far with a preview of jewelry in Pantone’s colors for the spring.
