Nordstrom remains focused on Rack with 2 new stores
Orem, Utah and Albuquerque are the latest markets where Nordstrom is opening Rack stores, as the retailer continues concentrating on its off-price division.

Seattle--Orem, Utah and Albuquerque are the latest markets where Nordstrom is opening Rack stores, as the retailer continues concentrating on its off-price division.
The Orem, Utah store will be located at the University Crossing shopping center. The 30,000-square-foot space is scheduled to open in spring 2015.
Nordstrom first entered the state of Utah when it opened a full-line store in Salt Lake City in 1980. It opened its first Rack there at Sugarhouse in Salt Lake City in 1991 and currently operates two other Racks, at Station Park in Farmington and Commons at South Towne in Sandy, as well a full-line store in Murray.
Shortly following the opening of the new Utah store will be the launch of a Rack store in Albuquerque, N.M. The 33,500-square-foot store is slated to open in fall 2015, making it the company’s first retail location in the state.
The news follows on the heels of a number of recent announcements from Seattle-based Nordstrom that it will add more Rack locations as it continues to focus on its off-price division as an area of growth.
The retailer told National Jeweler last month that it plans to open a total of 27 new Rack stores in 2014, as compared with only three full-line stores.

Nordstrom is just one of a number of major retailers putting more emphasis on their off-price and outlet store segments.
By the end of the year, 60 percent of Saks Inc.’s stores will be Off 5th locations. Nordstrom, meanwhile, operates 267 stores in 36 states, 147, or 55 percent, of which are Nordstrom Racks.
