The board of directors appointed Marzotto on Dec. 23.
The hiring of Marzotto comes after former Fiera di Vicenza President Paolo Mantovani resigned in September due to reported discord among show management.
Marzotto, 47, has been the president of Fondazione Cuoa, a business school in Italy, since June. He also has served as president of nonprofit organization Associazione Progetto Marzotto since October 2012 and president of the Mittelmoda Fashion Awards since September 2008.
In January 2009 he acquired and re-launched the Vionnet fashion house, serving as president until January 2013.
Prior to that he worked in his family’s group of companies, which include textiles and clothing. Marzotto also was the president and commissioner of ENIT, Italy’s national agency for tourism, and is a founder of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The Fiera di Vicenza board of directors is now comprised of Michele Amenduni, vice president and managing director of Acciaierie Valbruna; Renato Corra, managing partner of Corra 1789; Romano Cappellari, marketing professor at the University of Padua; Ester Furlan, manager of The Boston Consulting Group; Angela Peretto, accountant; and Stefano Stenta, president of Atelier Stimamiglio.
Fiera di Vicenza’s next show is Vicenzaoro Winter, scheduled for Jan. 18 to 23.
