Illinois Jeweler Closing After 45 Years
Mari Lou’s Fine Jewelry in Orland Park, a suburb of Chicago, is closing its doors.

The store lost its lease, the jeweler said in a press release.
Founder Mari Lou McCann started the jewelry business in 1979 and was later joined by her daughter Diana Butcher and son Donald in the 1990s. At that time, the jewelry store was located in Lakeview Plaza.
Butcher became the owner in 2015 when the family designed and built its new store at Orland Park Crossing, which opened in 2016. McCann retired a few years ago but is still involved in the business.
Mari Lou’s is known for exceeding expectations in customer service, diamond and gemstone jewelry sections, and custom design, said the retailer.
The store has also been involved in the community, supporting organizations like the Crisis Center for South Suburbia, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, My Joyful Heart, South Suburban Family Shelter, and Together We Cope.
“It has been an incredible honor to serve our clients from special events to meaningful milestones, we will always be deeply grateful for the relationships we’ve built along the way and for the trust our clients have placed in us over the years,” said Butcher.
Butcher told National Jeweler the family is actively searching for a new location and that its online store will remain in operation in the meantime.
Mari Lou’s is hosting a closing sale, which began March 11, featuring up to 70 percent off designer items, luxury gifts, and fine jewelry including gold, diamonds, engagement rings, gemstones, and more.
The sale will run until May 10 at Mari Lou’s Fine Jewelry at 14225 S. 95th Ave., Unit 406.
