Zendaya’s Engagement Ring Combines Vintage and Modern Elements
Zendaya’s ring, featuring an east-west set elongated cushion-cut diamond, is said to be from British designer Jessica McCormack.

While the celebrities, who have been dating since 2021, haven’t made a public announcement themselves, People and TMZ both have confirmed the engagement, citing sources close to the couple.
According to a Los Angeles Times reporter, Zendaya hinted that the diamond ring she was wearing on her left ring finger at the Golden Globes this past Sunday was her engagement ring.
After seeing the piece that was left out of Bulgari’s press release highlighting the necklace and other ring that Zendaya, a Bulgari brand ambassador, was wearing to the awards show a Times reporter asked, “Are you engaged?”
Zendaya simply held up her left hand and flashed the ring, smiling and shrugging.

The ring has vintage-meets-modern flair, with a Georgian-style cut-down setting often seen in antique jewelry combined with a contemporary east-west set diamond and two-tone white and yellow gold.
Laura Taylor, a jeweler specializing in engagement and wedding rings at Lorel Diamonds, told National Jeweler that she estimates the diamond to be about 5 carats, of VVS1 clarity, and near colorless in the D to F range, making it valued at up to $500,000, if it is a natural diamond.
However, estimates vary as designer Stephanie Gottlieb posted on Instagram that she believes the diamond is a bit bigger, 5 to 6 carats.
Meanwhile, Grant Mobley, resident diamond expert at the Natural Diamond Council and watch and jewelry editor at Only Natural Diamonds, told National Jeweler that the diamond is approximately 4 carats, and valued between $100,000 to $150,000.
“Although not confirmed, based on its design and previous connections with Zendaya, it is very likely that the ring is from British designer Jessica McCormack,” he said.
McCormack did not reply for comment as of press time, and the London-based designer has not posted anything publicly confirming that she created Zendaya’s engagement ring.
She is known for combining antique techniques with modern styles and has created engagement rings for celebrities in the past, including Zoë Kravitz’s cushion-cut ring in 2023.
Online reports speculate that Holland, who is from London, chose McCormack to design Zendaya’s engagement ring as a nod to his British roots.
It was also unveiled through a post on X that Zendaya liked an Instagram post showing a similar McCormack ring in September 2022.
“Zendaya’s (and Tom’s) choice of a collet engagement ring beautifully blends the best of old and new,” said Lauren Addison, founder and designer of her namesake brand.
“The antique diamond, east-west setting, and two-tone elements amount to a ring that is a modern classic and undeniably chic. Her choice of diamond highlights the growing demand for antique cuts, and I’m sure we’ll see even more growth in the coming year.”
In addition to antique cuts, fancy cuts continue to be popular, particularly among celebrities.
In October, Nina Dobrev received an elongated cushion-cut diamond when Shaun White proposed, while Selena Gomez’s partner Benny Blanco proposed with a marquise-cut diamond last month.
Singer Adele went fancy as well with a pear-shaped diamond in 2022, and Meghan Markle’s engagement ring featured a cushion-cut diamond at the center of the three-stone setting.

“The east-west setting adds a modern twist, giving the ring an effortless, ‘cool-girl’ edge while still embracing the timeless elegance of the cushion cut,” said Jillian Sassone, founder and creative director of Marrow Fine, who predicts that east-west settings are a trend we’ll see a lot of in 2025.
This style of setting is gaining traction and was featured in one of the more interesting celebrity engagement rings of 2024.
Actress Kaley Cuoco’s engagement ring from partner Tom Pelphrey was set with three stones.
The center stone of the “Flight Attendant” star’s ring was a cushion-cut diamond while, on one side, a baguette-cut diamond was set north-south and, on the other, an emerald-cut diamond was set east-west.
