Marco Bicego Adds Stackable Designs to Masai Collection
The new additions include flat coil rings, bracelets, and necklaces designed to layer elegantly.

The brand said these new pieces, while minimalistic, add glamour to the existing Masai designs by featuring pavé and brilliant-cut diamonds in 18-karat yellow gold bangles, huggie earrings, collars, double-band rings, and multi-strand cuffs.
The collection first debuted in 2016 when the founder and creative director of the eponymous brand experimented with a flat coil technique inspired by a trip to Africa where Bicego was influenced by the art and traditions of the Maasai tribe.
Masai was originally created to complement Marco Bicego’s “Marrakech” collection, which uses the same technique but with a twisted coil.
“The appearance of Maasai women, particularly their decorative, unique style of wearing stacked jewelry, was a subject of great interest and intrigue to me as I was conceiving this collection,” said Bicego.
“In this latest evolution of the collection, I wanted to introduce stacking bangles that perfectly complement each other, styling elegantly either together or alone. You can accumulate flat coil rings, bracelets, and necklaces without ever looking overloaded, quite the contrary.”
The flat coil technique that Bicego uses is reminiscent of the jewelry he saw women of the Maasai tribe wearing. It is created by wrapping a gold wire around a woven chain and then pressing it to form a semi-rigid ribbon.
The 47 new pieces are bold, clean, and elegant, said the brand.
They are also available in 18-karat white and rose gold, retailing for $3,800 to $42,100.
The Masai collection is available on the Marco Bicego website, as well as at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, and other retailers.
