A Biography of Sybil and David Yurman Is Coming Out This Fall
“Sybil and David Yurman: Artists and Jewelers” tells the couple’s story through personal writings, family photos, and original artwork.

“Sybil and David Yurman: Artists and Jewelers” spans more than 50 years of their lives, detailing how David, a sculptor, and Sybil, a painter and ceramicist, co-founded the company now led by their son Evan Yurman, the president and chief creative officer.
Their artistic evolution is chronicled throughout the book’s 352 pages, from their start as kids in the Bronx to creating the brand’s “Cable” bracelet and releasing advertising campaigns with well-known celebrities.
The book combines the couple’s personal writings with original artworks, family photographs, and archival materials from the brand, all edited by Thierry-Maxime Loriot.
This will be the first time that many of these archival materials are being published. The 400-plus images include jewelry portraits, original design sketches, and behind-the-scenes photos from the brand’s campaigns with Kate Moss, Amber Valletta, Naomi Campbell, and Gisele Bündchen.
“We’ve always chosen to bring the expression of our creations through the lens of art. All of our key players have not just been business partners, but creative collaborators,” David said.
Artistic collaboration is highlighted as the core of the brand’s philosophy, as the Yurman’s art and shared vision built the David Yurman brand into one of the world’s largest privately held jewelry brands.
“We wanted to integrate art into lifestyle,” said Sybil. “We wanted to give jewelry a personality, a relaxed way of wearing it both daytime and nighttime.”
The Yurmans also released “David Yurman: Cable” in 2017, a book focusing on their signature motif.
Published by Phaidon, “Sybil and David Yurman: Artists and Jewelers” will be available for purchase on Nov. 19 at booksellers for $69.95.
It can be preordered now through Phaidon, Barnes & Noble, or Amazon.
A luxury edition of the book with a clamshell box also will be available, with 250 copies signed by Sybil and David.
