Suncrest Diamonds recently introduced loose diamonds and diamond jewelry in Radiant Orchid, which has been named the Color of the Year for 2014.

New York--A Utah-based company that specializes in treated colored diamonds is adding another hue to its palette: Radiant Orchid, Pantone’s 2014 Color of the Year.

Based in Orem, Utah, Suncrest Diamonds uses the high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) process to turn natural diamonds pink, yellow and green.

This year, the company created a line of Radiant-Orchid hued diamonds and diamond jewelry that is available for retailers nationwide.

Suncrest said in addition to the HPHT process, the diamonds undergo an additional treatment that combines irradiation and annealing to ensure that they are fully saturated with color. The treatment also ensures that the color doesn’t fade over time.

The company said it is offering special pricing for retailers that want to add these new diamonds to their in-store displays. The diamonds are available in sizes ranging from 0.75 to 3 carats and can include certification designating that they have been Suncrest Pink Processed.

Simply Diamonds buys M.A. Reich

According to the companies, Vinnie Davis and Bill Reich will stay on with M.A. Reich, which will be based out of New York’s Diamond District but maintain a satellite office in Buffalo.

Northern Apex makes RFID available to manufacturers
Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Northern Apex Corp., creator of Gem-Where, the original RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) solution for jewelry stores, now is making their technology available to watch and jewelry manufacturers.

Gem-Where for manufacturers allows them to confirm RFID-tagged jewelry or gems (in their shipping boxes) as they are being sent to stores and when they are received by stores, eliminating unnecessary charge-backs.

The technology also can be used as an anti-counterfeiting measure for manufactures and authenticity of purchase for their customers.

In addition, Gem-Where for manufacturers includes the vault inventory feature, standard for stores, that enables

them to inventory their watches, loose gems and jewels faster than with traditional barcode or paper-and-pen methods.

Kingswood expands focus, grows 26%
The Kingswood Co., a leading supplier of private-label jewelry care products, announced recently that following a strong 2013, its sales have grown an average of 26 percent per year over the last four years.

During the past year, the Columbus, Ohio-based company has opened more than 100 new accounts nationally and internationally, including customers in new distribution channels such as direct sales and international distribution.

“Ten years ago, our company was almost exclusively focused on retail jewelers,” President and CEO Kristie Nicolosi said. “In recent years, we have expanded into new distribution channels including retail pawn, direct sales and manufacturers as well as international distribution.”

The company said it invested in operational and staff changes that allowed for such expansion, including more printing presses and higher-speed bottling equipment.

Kingswood also continued to grow its reach globally. Last year marked its first trade show in Asia, and the company now supplies products to customers in Asia, Africa, Europe and Australia as well as North America.

In addition to its growth around the globe, Kingswood also is investing locally. The company was a diamond sponsor for the annual conference of the Ohio River Valley Women’s Business Enterprise Council, held earlier this week in Columbus.

Kingswood, a certified Women Business Enterprise by the Women’s National Business Enterprise Council, served as a diamond sponsor alongside such companies as Procter & Gamble, The Kroger Co., L Brands and Macy’s.
