New York--The deadline to submit nominations for the Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA) Shining Star awards is Nov. 20, 2013.
The Shining Star award recognizes the chapter members who have been of extraordinary service to their chapter throughout the year. Nominees must have two years of membership (unless they are part of an affiliate chapter, in which case this does not apply), must actively participate in the chapter and must be a current paid member.
Sitting WJA presidents are not eligible for the award.
Winners of the award will receive one ticket to the WJA Spring Gala in New York, where they will be announced and will have the chance to make a two-minute acceptance speech.
They will also receive a discounted ticket to the In The Know Conference in New York, money to be used towards airfare to New York, and a hotel room that is booked and paid for by WJA National.
Winners will also get national trade and media recognition.
Members can receive more information as well as submit nominations by contacting their chapter president or chapter membership chair, whose information can be found on the WJA website. Additionally, nominations for Shining Star awards can also be submitted by contacting the WJA national office at info@womensjewelryassociation.com.
Also coming up is the deadline for the 2014 WJA Member Grant Program, open to all females who are current, paid-in-full, non-student WJA members. Applications must be submitted by Jan. 31, 2014.
Each chapter will provide a $500 grant, which may be applied to classes and/or supplies that include industry related studies, financial, business, tools, photography, marketing materials and other essentials that aid in professional growth.
