Picchiotti’s Stretch Technology Gets US Patent
The Xpandable collection features rings and bracelets that expand and contract, offering customers a comfortable fit.

Valenza, Italy—It isn’t always easy to legally protect a jewelry design from copyright infringement, but Picchiotti has done just that.
The Italian fine jewelry brand has announced that its “Xpandable” collection stretch technology has been awarded a 20-year U.S. jewelry patent to safeguard against counterfeit products, the brand said.
Originally introduced in 2016, the Xpandable collection consists of ring and bracelet styles that expand and contract, offering customers a comfortable fit, without worry of precise ring sizing, particularly as fingers can change in size, as well as the ease of wearing a bracelet without a clasp.
The brand’s president and founder, Giuseppe Picchiotti, said in a press release: “My family and I are incredibly proud to have been awarded a rare and meaningful U.S. jewelry patent.”
“We knew from the beginning that the genius of this technology was special and that it would ensure long-lasting comfort for our customers. The patent now sanctions the originality of our invention and ensures that Xpandable customers can be confident they are getting a genuine Picchiotti creation.”
The Xpandable collection launched with a dozen styles, but now comes in more than 200 variations, replete with diamonds and gemstones. Styles are available at various retailers across the United States, in addition to internationally.
