Gumuchian Amps Up Efforts to Save Bees
A portion of sales from the brand’s “B” collection now will benefit the University of Minnesota’s Bee Research Lab.

New York—Gumuchian’s popular “B” collection is inspired by honeybees, and the brand is now doing even more to pay it back to the threatened species.
A portion of sales from the B range, which features a honeycomb pattern, will now go to the University of Minnesota Bee Research Lab.
The lab’s “Bee Squad,” inspired by the University of Minnesota’s Dr. Marla Spivak, provides education and hands-on mentorship to beekeepers and the community to help increase the healthy bee population and pollinator landscapes.
The Bee Squad facilitates several programs, including a project that gives pollinator outreach training to groups who might not typically receive such education, from high school students to adult Spanish-speaking immigrants.
Gumuchian’s latest efforts to help bees is by no means the company’s first.
The brand also has partnerships with The Honeybee Conservancy in California and City Growers in Brooklyn.
Gumuchian’s most recent dedication to the latter organization helped fund the Brooklyn Bee Corps, a program that allowed Brooklyn teenagers to spend eight weeks last summer beekeeping and restoring native plants in five City Growers beehives.
The students learned how to check on the hives, assess the bees’ health, find each colonies’ queen and about the important role honeybees play in the ecosystem.
Last year, a species of bumble bee was the first wild bee in the continental United States to be classified as an endangered species.
Gumuchian’s B collection will be on display at the Couture Show in Las Vegas, happening May 31 to June 4 at the Wynn.
