Designer gets inspired by well-heeled women
Rémy Rotenier has reimagined the high heels of well-known women throughout history into a line of gem-set charms, pendants and earrings.

Albuquerque, N.M.--Jewelry designer Rémy Rotenier has created a new jewelry line to celebrate the innovation and diversity of both historic and contemporary high heels.
The designer used fashionable women throughout history who have shown classic and unique style for the high-heeled shoe, such as Marilyn Monroe and musician Lady Gaga, as his muses for these new pieces and reimagined them as jewels.
The “Silver Heels” collection features pendants, charms and earrings created in silver plated with rhodium, yellow or rose gold and enamel and set with gemstones including citrine, garnet, topaz, peridot and amethyst.
There are six shoe designs, each of which has been created as earrings, a charm and a pendant. There are a total of 21 different pieces in the collection, ranging in retail price from $88 to $270. (There also are bracelets and chains for the charms and pendants available.)
A recent exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, “Killer Heels: The Art of the High-Heeled Shoe,” which has been traveling the country and currently is at the Albuquerque Museum in New Mexico, inspired Rotenier’s Silver Heels collection.
The line is being sold at the Albuquerque Museum store, Santa Fe Goldworks and fine jewelry retailers across the country.
