High-end fashion houses know how to emotionally connect with customers online. Retail jewelers should take note, Emmanuel Raheb writes.
Antiquorum launches e-commerce site
The Antiquorum Watch Boutique is an online watch store that focuses primarily on accessibly priced watches.
Geneva--Antiquorum is giving customers 24/7 access to timepieces with the launch of the Antiquorum Watch Boutique, an e-commerce site featuring both modern and vintage watches primarily priced at $5,000 or below.
With no minimum price or threshold policy, as is common with most other major auction houses, the new platform provides a unique opportunity for entry-level timepieces, Antiquorum said. Commission also is all-inclusive, with no additional buyer’s premiums added to the fixed prices.
The website features a selection of watches, all of which have been examined by Antiquorum experts, from across all periods and from a variety of well-known brands such as Audemars Piguet, Breitling, TAG Heuer, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Patek Philippe and Rolex, among others.
Watches are offered in three different formats:
--The private sale is held through the year, offering watches with an average value of $5,000 or below as well as a selection of highlights;
--The after-auction sale follows all of the company’s auctions worldwide, allowing collectors the opportunity to make immediate after-sale offers at a fixed price for 15 days;
--And the curated sale also gives collectors the chance to purchase from a selection of watches based on a theme or from a notable figure, or a private collection or partnership with brands.
Clients also can make an offer on any watch in the three categories through the “make an offer” tab. Once the offer is received, an Antiquorum expert will notify the customer directly to let them know if it has been accepted.
Evan Zimmermann, president and CEO of Antiquorum, said, “As the high-end of the watch market has continued to soar over the last several years, we have recognized the growing need for a user-friendly platform that focuses on affordable timepieces. Complementing our traditional auction model, we are pleased to offer watch enthusiasts a venue where they can buy and sell watches with an average value of $5,000 or below, addressing the demands of this sometimes overlooked but extremely important segment of the market.”
