Bovet joins watchmakers opening boutiques in US
Bovet 1822 has opened its first store in the United States, adding its name to the growing list of high-end watchmakers launching stores here.
New York--Bovet 1822 has opened its first store in the United States, adding its name to the growing list of high-end watchmakers launching stores here.
In addition to its original collections of high-end watches, Bovet has also created a new collection of watches that are exclusive to New York, featuring 50 timepieces that are engraved to commemorate the opening.
The brand said the prices of its timepieces are available on request due to their handmade nature.
Owner Pascal Raffy celebrated the opening of the new store at a ceremony Thursday with boutique partners Michael Rosenberg and Jeffrey Khalaf, as well as friend and award-winning film director Paul Haggis, whose credits include the Oscar-winning Crash.
“I am very proud to bring the House of Bovet 1822 to New York, where collectors will be able to explore and discover our exceptional creations,” Raffy said. “To do this, I warmly thank Bovet’s longtime partners Jeffrey Khalaf and Michael Rosenberg from The Timepiece Collection for their invaluable contribution to this endeavor.”
Bovet has only three other boutiques in the world, in Moscow, Berlin and Baku, Azerbaijan.
Bovet joins a number of high-end watchmakers that have announced in recent weeks that they’re expanding their U.S. presence with branded boutiques, including Swatch Group opening multi-brand stores in New York and Las Vegas, and Seiko announcing that it will launch its first U.S. high-end boutique in New York next year.
The high-end watch segment also seems to be performing well among independents. Many retailers have told National Jeweler that watches, particularly those from luxury brand Rolex, are the hot sellers in their stores this holiday season.
