Movado makes its smart move
The watch company has teamed up with Silicon Valley companies HP and Fullpower Technologies Inc. to create two different smartwatches.
Paramus, N.J.--Movado Group has teamed up with Silicon Valley companies HP Inc. and Fullpower Technologies Inc. to create two different smartwatches, one of which already is available for wholesale.
The “Simply intelligent-Movado Motion” timepieces utilize Fullpower Technologies Inc.’s MotionX platform in two Swiss-made designs: three in the Museum Sport for men and another three in the Bellina for women while the Movado Bold Motion, created with HP, is a unisex smartwatch.
The Simply intelligent smartwatch connects with an app that’s available on both iOS (Apple) and Android devices and can track the wearer’s steps and sleep, offer “dynamic” coaching on reaching fitness goals, and has an automatic world clock with time/date setting that syncs with its paired device (i.e., a smartphone).
The battery lasts for two years but is non-rechargeable.

The smartwatches range from $995 to $2,495 retail and are being sold through Movado’s retail partners as well as on Movado.com.
Designed in the style of the classic Movado Bold watch, the Movado Bold Motion uses HP technology to connect with an app that sends the wearer notifications about incoming phone calls, texts and social media alerts as well as reminders about meetings. It can also track steps and progress toward fitness goals.
It has a rechargeable battery that lasts between five and seven days depending on usage.

There are two unisex styles, each of which retails for $695.
The Movado Bold Motion will be available for the holidays on Movado.com and for retail partners at a later date.
Movado manufactures, designs and distributes Movado, Ebel, Concord, Coach, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Juicy Couture, Tommy Hilfiger and Scuderia Ferrari brand watches worldwide.
The debut of its smartwatches, which it telegraphed with the hiring of a general manager of wearable devices in late 2014, follows on the heels of TAG Heuer’s unveiling of the “Connected” last week and the release of the Apple Watch earlier this year.
